What are you replacing?

Cambridge is not one housing market. The right starting point depends on the street, not on a generic “city” brochure.

A Victorian terrace

Romsey, Petersfield, Mill Road: solid walls, original sash openings, traffic noise. Rose Collection sliding sash or Residence flush casement, often with acoustic glass. We wrote the terrace guide for exactly this house.

Cambridge terrace guide

A conservation street

Newnham, the Chesterton villas, streets that will not accept a chunky casement. We take the systems conservation officers already know, and we will tell you if secondary glazing is the honest answer.

Conservation-area windows

The whole house

Later Cambridge housing — Cherry Hinton, the edges of Chesterton, parts of Trumpington — is often a whole-house A-rated casement job. One team, one colour, one guarantee.

uPVC windows

An aluminium upgrade

Slim Cortizo, Origin and Schüco frames on contemporary rear extensions and the newer Trumpington streets. Not on a Mill Road bay. We will say which.

Aluminium windows

A few windows or misted glass

One fogged pane in a sound frame can be a glass swap rather than a window sale — we will tell you which at survey. Small jobs are welcome.

Diagnose misted glass

Windows and doors together

Most whole-house jobs include the front door or a rear opening while the team is there. One survey, one colour scheme, one installation.

What it costs

How our pricing works

Cambridge window pricing depends on the openings, the profile the street will accept, glazing (acoustic glass is a real line, not an upsell on Mill Road) and any consent work. We do not publish a rate card that would be wrong for your house in both directions. Free survey, then every window on paper as its own line, within two working days.

I’m extremely happy with the work carried out by Tariq and Garry from Custom Choice. They installed my front door and windows with great care and attention to detail. They were friendly, efficient, and clearly take pride in their work.

We highly recommend Custom Choice Home Improvements. We recently had seven windows and one door replaced, and the entire experience was excellent from start to finish. From our initial contact, Tariq's communication was clear and consistent.

In total we had 8 windows, a front door and French doors fitted. The Custom Choice team came round, took measurements and then sat down with us to show us the full selection of windows and doors. Tony, the person who came round, was fantastic.

Straight answers

Windows in Cambridge — common questions

Do you fit double glazing in Cambridge?

Yes. We survey Cambridge from our Fengate showroom in Peterborough — about fifty minutes — and install with our own employed team. A-rated double glazing as standard, triple where a room justifies it, acoustic glass on noisy streets. FENSA registered, 10-year insurance-backed guarantee.

Can you replace windows in a Cambridge conservation area?

Often, yes. Rose Collection sliding sash and Residence flush casement are the systems we take to conservation officers. We check designations before we quote a profile that will be refused, and we will tell you if replacement is the wrong answer and secondary glazing is the honest one.

Who actually fits the windows?

Our own employed window fitters — never a Cambridge subcontractor we have not met. The team you meet at the survey is the team on the house on install day.

How fast can you survey and quote?

Book a survey time online. We survey the house ourselves, then send a written, itemised quote within two working days. No deposit is taken until you are happy with the specification.

Can I see the windows before deciding?

Yes — the Fengate showroom has every range on display, Monday to Friday 9:30am to 5pm. Open the sashes, feel the frames, compare the colours. No appointment needed. If you cannot travel, we bring samples to the Cambridge survey.

Ready when you are

Book the survey online, or come and stand next to the actual windows at the Fengate showroom first. Either way, the next step is free.
